Who are we?
what are we at?
Bar Monto is a new Irish bar concept founded by Conor Myers, Archie Dolan and Tom O'Byrne, bringing the grit, warmth and vibrancy of Ireland to the East Village, New York.
More than a bar, Bar Monto is a celebration of Irish culture through music, art, print, fashion, food and drink. It's a modern interpretation of the Irish pub—one that respects tradition while creating something distinctly its own.
The name comes from The Monto, Dublin's infamous inner-city district that flourished between the late 1800s and the 1920s. Renowned for its nightlife, colourful characters and rebellious spirit, it was a place where every walk of life collided. That energy, authenticity and sense of freedom are at the heart of Bar Monto.
Our visual identity draws inspiration from the pubs and social clubs of Ireland throughout the 1980s and 1990s—spaces full of character, community and lived-in charm. You'll find echoes of that era throughout our interiors, graphics and atmosphere, reimagined through a contemporary lens.
Just as importantly, Bar Monto is about building community. The Irish pub has always been more than somewhere to have a drink; it's where people gather, celebrate, debate, create and connect. We want Bar Monto to play that same role in the East Village by collaborating with local artists, musicians, clubs, charities, businesses and neighbourhood events.
New York is now our home, and we hope Bar Monto becomes a home for others too.
Go raibh maith agat.
